NEWS: The Downfall of Karbauk
The feud between Karbauk, the Ashjaki chieftain, and Muzgash, the
Zaghbuurz chieftain, came to an end the other day. Muzgash and Gulgoth
sought out Narthaug, priest of Lugburz, and met in private with him for a
brief time. The priest then left to find Gruumsh, the High Ordainer of Dol
Guldur, and he too met in private with Muzgash and Gulgoth. After this
short meeting, they emerged and Gruumsh demanded that Karbauk be brought
before him. He instructed Muzgash to list his accusations of treason:
claiming the personal protection of Gruumsh; accusing an officer of treason
without call; hiring low snaga to hunt for Gulgoth when he could make no
true accusation against him; sending orcs to try to kill Muzgash himself;
and, worst of all, selling his authority to a lower officer, a dratul of
the Ghashdruin, to whom Muzgash said he and Gulgoth had seen Karbauk kowtowing
"Like it was one of the Nine!" Karbauk denied all these things, but
Gruumsh offered immediate punishment: Karbauk was demoted to Snaga, then
removed from the Ashjaki and forbidden to ever even join a tribe again,
then forbidden from ever carrying weapons and armor without Gruumsh's
permission, and finally ordered into the Black Pits, the Dungeons of
Barad-dur. Muzgash and Gulgoth and Narthaug escorted the Snaga to the
Pits personally, and left him there for Gruumsh's tender care.
